North Korea launched a rocket carrying a "satellite"

North Korea officially confirmed the successful launch of satellite communications into orbit using a ballistic rocket. The news agency reported that North Korea has stabilized satellite in orbit after a successful launch.

The South Korean government said the missile was launched by North Korea on Sunday carrying a satellite.

Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean government official in Seoul as saying: "the study of co-ordinates of the flight of the missile, we concluded that the missile launch a dedicated satellite was not a long-range missile."

For his part, U.S. President Barack Obama that the North Korean move is a violation of UN resolutions.

Obama said that "the launch of a Taepodong -2 today constitutes a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolution No. 1718, which is clearly prohibited on North Korea to engage in activities related to its ballistic missiles."

He said he would consult with allies in the region, including Japan and South Korea as well as members of the UN Security Council to transfer the case to the Board.

He also criticized Foreign Minister David Ritani strongly Maleband North Korea's firing and called for an end to all acts of ballistic missile-related activities.

But China, a staunch ally of North Korea on Sunday called for restraint after North Korean missile launch.

Japan and Russia
